🐾 A Message to Our Past & Future Adopters 🐾
At Campbell Safe Haven Rescue & Rehabilitation, we pour everything we have into each dog—rescue, rehabilitation, training, and love—so they can be ready for their forever home.
Before adopting, we ask that you truly take a moment to reflect on the commitment.
Dogs are not temporary—they are a lifelong responsibility.
Life will change.
Dogs may develop behaviors that need work.
Families grow. Situations shift.
That’s part of the journey.
When challenges arise, the expectation—outlined in our adoption contract—is that you seek training and work through those challenges, not give up on your dog. Whether it’s a move, a new baby, or a life curveball, these are things that should be planned for when making the decision to adopt.
We do take our dogs back—but please understand why.
It is not to make it easy to return them.
It is to ensure they never end up in a neglectful or unsafe situation.
We are a small rescue with very limited space and resources. Each return places a significant strain on our ability to help other dogs in need—and it can undo much of the progress that dog worked so hard to achieve.
Many of these dogs have already been passed from home to home. Every time that happens, their ability to trust humans and feel secure in a permanent home is deeply compromised. When they are returned, we often see confusion, anxiety, and emotional shutdown.
If you could see what these dogs go through when they come back into a shelter environment, you would think twice.
The reality is—those heartbreaking scenes you see in ASPCA commercials are not exaggerated. It’s something we witness far too often.
More than anything, it’s heartbreaking.
These dogs deserve stability, commitment, and a family that is prepared to stand by them through the ups and downs—just as they will stand by you.
If you are not fully ready for that level of commitment, we kindly ask that you wait until you are.
🐶 Adopt when you’re ready for forever—not just for right now.

Meet S’mores: My Journey Toward Hope!
🐾"Hi there, I’m S’mores. I’m a 4–5-year-old Pomeranian, and though my life started out with some very scary chapters, I’m finally ready to write a happy ending with you. Not long ago, I was found all alone on a roadside in Coos Bay. I was hurt, hungry, and very frightened. But since coming into the care of my friends at the rescue, everything has changed. I’ve been groomed, fed, and tucked into a warm bed, and I’m finally starting to realize that the world can be a kind place. Every day, I’m coming a little further out of my shell and learning how to trust again.
A little about my life:
I’ll also be wearing my Fi tracking collar to make sure I’m always safe while I learn the ropes of my new home. I’ve been through a lot, but I’m resilient and full of hope. If you have a quiet, loving home and a little extra patience, I would love to be your devoted best friend."
